Farming, Food Prices, and Photos

Here's a recent interview with a senior economist at the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization, Abdolreza Abbassian. In the video, he warns about the increasing cost of commodities, and in particular, food crops. Furthermore, he talks of "investment tourists" (is this today's euphemism for "speculators"?), and acknowledges that some of the rising costs are not intrinsic to the commodites themselves, or the circumstances of their cultivation. Weather, of course, plays a part, but whatever the cause of rising food costs, the result is instability. Nevertheless, the video warms us as it warns, for it shows the process of farming, and reminds us how relevant it is still today.
